In an attempt to further clinch her title as reining “supreme gift-giver of all time” my wife recently presented me with the Brinkmann Pro Series 4400 Bar-B-Q grill.

Although the manual for the Pro Series 4400 asserts a “no tools necessary” assembly process, I was in no mood to find out just how accurate that claim would turn out to be so I picked up my unit fully assembled. A big thanks goes out to the wonderful staff of the Wal-Mart lawn and garden department.

The Brinkmann Pro Series 4400 has a flat black finish with gold accents. I personally prefer the look of the stainless steal grills, however the overall look of the grill is pleasing just the same.

Believe me when I say, this is a BIG grill! It has three porcelain coated grates sitting over four independent burners. I was able to grill enough food for six adults and five children this weekend with plenty of room to spare. Let me just say, I picked up a 68” cover to protect the grill from the elements and it has a hard time covering the unit.

Other Features Include:

  • Automatic Igniter Switch
  • Four 360° wheel casters with brakes
  • Closed In Frame Conceals The Propane Tank
  • Supplementary Side Burner
  • Built-in Thermometer
I have two primary concerns with the Pro Series 4400. First, the grill does not come with a cover or a propane tank and these items must be purchased separately. Still, given the budget price of the item, I was able to add these accessories and still walk away with a price tag under $500 so I will try not to complain too much. Secondly, and perhaps more disappointing, was to discover that the cooking grates sit a little to close to the briquettes for my taste and cannot be adjusted. In my experience, this arrangement can lead to excess grease fires when cooking certain meats and it would have been nice to have the option to move the flames further away from the meat.

Bottom Line:
If you do not need a big grill, this monster is not for you, but if you are looking for a large grilling surface for under $500, Brinkmann Pro Series 4400 is a great choice.
